"True charity is the desire to be useful to others without thought of recompense."
- Emanuel Swedenborg

Mumbai, a place where people are too busy to even talk to their own neighbors, there are people who reach out to those in need. They strive hard to bring a change in this society without expecting any returns. Hope, sacrifice and inspiration make up their daily lives.

Women

In India every 26 minutes, a woman is molested
In India every 34 minutes, a woman is raped.
In India every 93 minutes, a woman is killed.

Mother! Wife! Housekeeper! So many roles. Yet so much discrimination. While men work for money, status and satisfaction, women work for the same, but in a reverse order.

Children

12 lakh Indian kids still do hazardous work.
More than 5,000 child soldiers recruited by LTTE.
India becoming a hub for child sex tourism.

Children are the future of the nation. Harming them today is harming the progress of India.

Disabled and Health

Over 20 million people in India fall under the disabled category.
Almost half of them are women.
AIDS is on the rise.

Even they are men and women of this nation. They are not asking for your pity. They are asking for their space.

Civic and Environment and Animal Welfare

26th July, 2005, Mumbai experiences mass floods.
Passenger pigeons become extinct due to poaching.
Dharavi is still the biggest slum in Asia.
Global Warming is our biggest threat.

The city is our home. The planet is our responsibility. Animals are as much part of this earth as we are.

There's an unending list of great charities and NGOs who have been working relentlessly for the good cause. However with time and resource constraints we had to choose 101 NGOs from Mumbai. The list below by no means reflect any hierarchy over others that have not been listed. This list has been prepared on first come basis without any personal discrimination. We look forward to reach out to more institutions globally in near future.

Participating NGO's please download the agreement form and send it along with your brochure and any other information which might help the filmmakers to make a better video.

Please Note:
* If you are an NGO in Mumbai and would like to participate, please send us an email asap as there might be few spots left: genesis@mammovies.com
* Filmmakers will get their NGOs on a random drawing at the kickoff party on January 2nd, 2007.
