PROJECT RULES
The minimum requirements:
You will need some
(not all) of the following
• Video camera (Mini DV, DV
Cam etc)
• Digital editing equipment (Moviemaker, premiere, final
cut Pro, Edit DV, I Movie etc)
• Digital animation software (Flash/Quick time Pro)
• Image editing software (Photoshop, Fireworks etc)
(NB: We cannot supply any equipment or facilities
for the competition! However please see our resource section to
get some free Soft wares and other help.)
The basic rules:
1) Registration:
• Registration opens on 4th December'06.
• Each Team must register and complete our Entry
Form to take
part.
• Each Team Leader should send a Self Portrait expressing themselves about who
they are and what inspires them. Use one of the following or any other creative
medium : One min video, still picture, writing, drawing, poem etc
• Download agreement form and submit it with your Registration.
• Submit Rs 101 as a registration fee with your form.
• Last day for submitting Applications is 30th December 2006
• 101 participating filmmakers would be announced on the morning of 1st Jan'07
2. Time Period:
• The total time allocated to make the
film is 101 Hours.
• Film project will begin on Tuesday 2nd Jan,
at 7 p.m. and conclude the following Saturday, at 11.59 p.m. (local
time).
• The participating group must complete its film/video work in
time to deliver it to a location to be announced by the above mentioned
time.
• Only works that meet the deadline will be officially part of
the competition.
3. Preparation:
• Select your Team: There's no limit to team
members. The Team leader can select his or her team or choose to
make the film all by themselves.
• Arrange your resources: You would need
a basic camera and editing machine to make your film. Its the content
we are looking for more than the quality of the camera you use.

• Getting Music: Try to get copyright free music, however these
films being made for non commercial use, you are allowed to use
any Music.
• Doing research to see what makes a great
video.
4. Kickoff event:
• All Team Leaders of participating
team must be present at the official Kickoff Event of the Film
project on 2nd Jan, 5 pm.
• Each team will be given a NGO, which will be decided
by a random drawing during the kickoff event.
• Teams will receive a packet with more information about
the organization they would be filming, along with contact info
of the NGO representative they will be meeting. We already have
permissions from NGOs to make a film on them and they would be
expecting your visit.
• Teams will proceed to make their
films at 7 pm.
5. Film Duration:
• Each finished film must be minimum of 4 minutes and no
longer than five minutes (Including titles and credits).
6. Credits:
• Each film must include Title and credits.
• Credits at the end of each film are limited to a maximum
of 60 seconds.
• Films must include the following credit: "This film
made as part of the Genesis Film Project 2007."
• Please include all the names on credit list provided by
us on Kickoff event.
7. Copyrights:
• Organizer will have complete, worldwide, non-exclusive
rights to the finished film.
• NGO’s will have non-exclusive rights to use the
film made on them
• Filmmakers, who made the film will have rights to show,
exhibit their films.
• The Team leader for each group must submit a complete
and signed paper copy of the "Participation Agreement" with
their Submission form before the Kickoff event.
8. Format:
• Any type of video or film camera may be used.
• Each film must be delivered preferably on either of these
medium: Mini DV, DVD, Mpeg, Quicktime Moive, WMV, CD. We would
encourage filmmakers to try and give us their final film in a Mini
DV to maintain the highest quality for better projection and future
distribution.
• We recommend that each team submit two copies of the
final film in two different formats. If we cannot view your film
on our equipment, it may be disqualified.
9. Production:
• No stock footage or footage shot or created at another
time may be used.
• Still Photographs from NGOs can be used.
• Animation
and special effects are permitted, but must be created during the
101 hour time period.
• Pre-recorded sound effects and Music is allowed to use.
• Before the finished film begins, the tape should have:
i. 5 seconds of black.
ii. Team name, date, city, Name of NGO
iii. 2 seconds of black
iv. Your film
v. 5 Sec of black
10. Language/ Subtitles:
• Filmmaker is free to make the film
in any language of their choice, however there has to be subtitles
for all non English films.

Music:
• Participating groups
are encouraged to work with local composer and / or musicians to
write and record music for the films. We realize that this may
be difficult to achieve. Since these films would be used non-commercially,
it is permissible for a participating group to use pre-recorded
music;. However the participating group must give credits to the
Music composer in their films.
12. Wrap up Event:
• Teams would have to submit their final
film before 11.59 pm on Saturday, 6th January'07
• Teams should submit all their filled forms given to them
on wrap up event.
13. Selection Process:
• On 7th January'07, All completed films
would be reviewed by a panel of professional filmmakers, critics,
social workers and Genesis project Team.
• Total of 25 films
would be selected (5 films from each NGO category) for the premiere
on 9th Jan'07
14. Premiere:
• The screening of the films will be held on the 9th of January
2007. An elite panel of judges from the film fraternity will judge
the final 25. They will award the best 10 films.
• Due to limited seating, Each team would be given a single
pass to the premiere night to be held in Cinemax Theaters where
the shortlisted 25 films would be screened. Passes would be given
upon submission of final films on time.
15. Exposure:
• All the videos would be Uploaded on
Web through our website and Karmatube.org to create an International
Exposure. |
