PROJECT RULES

The minimum requirements:

You will need some (not all) of the following:

  • Video camera (Mini DV, DV Cam etc)
  • Digital editing equipment (Moviemaker, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Edit DV, iMovie etc)
  • Digital animation software (Flash/Quick Time Pro)
  • Image editing software (Photoshop, Fireworks etc)

(NB: We cannot supply any equipment or facilities for the competition! However please see our resource section to get some free Softwares and other help.)

THE BASIC RULES

1) Registration:
  • The shooting event would take place on 1st - 5th of every month.
  • Each Team must Register Online and complete the Form to take part.
2) Time Period:
  • The total time allocated to make the film is 101 Hours.
  • Film project will begin on the 1st of every month at 8am and conclude on the 5th, at 1 pm. (local time).
  • The participating group must complete its film/video work in time and upload a low res version on Metta Media or any other video portal, on or before 1pm on the 5th of the participating month . (Subtitles are not compulsory for the online version).
  • You can then mail us the hard copy on a (MINI DV Format and a DVD copy), with Subtitles Compulsory.
3) Preparation:
  • Select your Team: There's no limit to team members. The Team leader can select his or her team or choose to make the film all by themselves.
  • We would appreciate if you had a person to take stills and videos of behind the scenes during your filming. Again, not compulsory.
  • Arrange your Resources: You would need a basic camera and editing machine to make your film. Its the content we are looking for more than the quality of the camera you use. Check our resources section if you need any help.
  • Doing research to see what makes a great video will be additional help.
4) Film Duration:
  • Each finished film must be minimum of 3 minutes and no longer than 5 minutes (Including titles and credits).
5) Credits:
  • Each film must include Title and credits.
  • Credits at the end of each film are limited to a maximum of 60 seconds.
6) Copyrights:
  • Organizers will have complete, worldwide, non-exclusive rights to the finished film.
  • NGO’s will have non-exclusive rights to use the film made on them.
  • Filmmakers, who made the film will have rights to show, exhibit their films.
  • The Team leader for each group must submit an Online Registration Form before the competition starts.
7) Format / Final Submission:
  • Any type of video or film camera may be used.
  • You are expected to submit your Final Films on or before 1pm by the 5th of each participating month. You could upload it on Metta Media or any other online portal and send us the link of the same.
  • You can then mail us the hard copy after the competition at the following address:
  • Each Final Film must be delivered on a Mini DV Format to maintain the highest quality for better projection and future distribution.
  • We recommend that each team submit one copy of the final film in two different formats. 1) Mini DV 2) DVD. If we cannot view your film on our equipment, it may be disqualified.
8) Production:
  • No stock footage or footage shot or created at another time may be used.
  • Still Photographs from NGOs can be used.
  • Animation and special effects are permitted, but must be created during the 101 hour time period.

9) Language/ Subtitles:

  • Filmmaker is free to make the film in any language of their choice, however there has to be subtitles for all Non English Films.
  • Subtitles are not compulsory on the uploaded version of the film. But required on the FINAL Mini DV and DVD Copies.

10) Music:

  • Please contact us if you have your own copyright music and would like to use it in your film.
